Hi Everyone, Well, as I imagined, the people closest to the fires seem to be too busy to be sending and receiving emails. If anyone wants to make phone calls to people known to live near the fires, or send me phone numbers, that would be helpful. Please take any information here with a grain of salt, as it may no longer be current and/or geographical information could be inaccurate.
Greenfield Report (several hours old):
I spoke with Lynn Meadows late this afternoon, who told me that the fire which started on Singley Ranch, opposite Orr Hot Springs (originally called the Montgomery Woods fire, I believe) was coming up a canyon and approaching the northwestern part of Greenfield Ranch. As we spoke CDF bulldozers were working to protect four houses in that area (where Lynn lives). I spoke with Lynn again in the evening and she said that fire was in a "holding pattern" and residents (and CDF) were prepared to fight it if/when it got too close.
In the meantime the Radical Ridge fire on the eastern part of Greenfield, south of Reeves Canyon, had flared up in a pretty frightening way, according to Lynn. Some people were thought to be at risk, but that situation was soon resolved by CDF. At around 7:30 p.m. I was told by another informant, Yanahe, that a helicopter and bombers were working on Radical Ridge fire, which he described as "laid down" at that time. People living in the area known as "Heartland" - several miles west of Parducci Winery - are watching closely. They are about 3 miles south of Radical Ridge, according to Yanahe.
