A message from Maria Gilardin:
Hi All, Bakersfield Memorial Heliport is open for business. If you are in need of a medical evacuation you can tell 911 to send helicopters from CALSTAR or REACH to the meadow on Parcel 14.
The GPS coordinates are approximately
N 39 degrees - 14 minute - 40 seconds
W 123 degrees - 18 minutes - 14 seconds
CALSTAR say they have maps of the ranch. For old timers: This is the field that was used for horse races. For new people: Parcel 14 (or MUC) is right above the Ranch House Community Pond in the middle of the ranch. You can reach the Parcel 14 meadow from the Main Ranch Road via Meadow Ridge Road which goes uphill a few yards east of the Community Pond parking lot. You can drive directly onto the field from 2 directions. The following private roads lead to the landing area: Little Gnome via Chicken Foot; and Middle Way coming from the direction of Stay High Drive and Find Your Way.
We have been unable to get a GPS reading due to the smoke cover but pilots fly into new terrain all the time.
Thanks to Ray McCurdy for an amazing job of mowing an area much larger than needed for the helicopters. The landing area is flat, 120' in diameter and there are not trees for another 80 feet.
