This email and map are forwarded from Zack Darling. Thank you, Zack! In GIS lingo the red outlined areas are called polygons or "polys". Notice the poly at the top of the image on the left. That's what I've been calling the No Name Fire. It seems to me to be too far west to be called the Reeves Fire. Reeves Canyon is in the Russian River Watershed and this fire looks to me to be in the Big River Watershed. It's too far North to be the Navarro Fire. I'm puzzled, but nevermind what it's called. We all need to stay aware that it's moving in our direction.
As far as I can tell, the Jack Smith Fire is the result of at least 3 lightening strikes. The Montgomery Woods/Running Springs Fire is the result of 8 lightening strikes. The No Name is the result of only one strike. I think that's why it's so much smaller than the other two.
So even if the two fires that we're dealing with right now manage to miss some of us, we've still got that other fire approaching. Therefore, keep expanding your defensible space!

Hi Linda,
Here is the most recent satellite map of The Ranch and where the fire lines are estimated to be. The red lines represent the fire areas. This was updated yesterday (6/26/08). Fortunately it's not much different from where it was the day before.
Feel free to share this with everyone on your fire list.
I'm unable to do this over the weekend, but will send updated daily maps like this all next week.
Kindly,
Zack Darling
