This morning (Saturday) CalFire set backfires along Running Springs Road at the intersection with the Ridge Road (Clay's driveway). The fire had burned up to that point last night, and Tim Pletcher spent some hours keeping in from jumping over the road. The backfires are intended to create a burned-over buffer along the west side of the road to help keep the fire from jumping the road.
It now appears that the Montgomery Woods fire will burn up to Running Springs Road along a line beginning at the south end of Owen-Kennedy's property and continuing for an indeterminate distance to the south/southwest. CalFire intends to hold the fire at Running Springs Road, and hopefully they will succeed if the winds don't blow too hard in the wrong direction.
