Hi neighbors, 2 people have called me from town in the last hour with the same rumor: That the fire crews have lost control out here. This is NOT TRUE (at least as far as our fires go)
I drove back as far as Leslie and Rex's I did not see any place where the fire had jumped the road. I encountered 2 different fire crews on patrol. The one I spoke to said that if they had lost control it was news to him.
The woods to the west are burned from the turn off to the Pletchers' on back farther than I went. It is still smoldering in places but it was only a ground fire and the big trees are intact. I suspect this was all from backfires set yesterday.
The air was reasonably clear up here after a smoky morning. I could see a small amount of smoke coming from Montgomery Woods and I could see a small amount of smoke coming from the next valley west of Montgomery Woods. Neither plume was significant compared to what we have seen here in the past. I can see as far south as Low Gap. I don't see any significant smoke coming from the Doughrty (sp?) fire.
It looks smokier in town than it is up here at this time. I suspect that is the source of the rumors.
