Short Update from Running Springs

Correction RE: this post, from Lisa:
Lynn just emailed me that the post about the Running Springs fire has an error. It's 37,000 acres for the whole county and 3,000 for Running Springs.

The burned area is 37,500 acres as of this morning, 38% contained. The weather has helped a lot in the last few days, but because of the dry conditions we aren't out of the woods, so to speak. The Greenfield (Jack Smith) fire is in a "mopping up" phase. The Running Springs Ranch/Montgomery Woods fire is more problematic. I don't have much information on the other fires, such as the No Name fire.

Aurelea says: woohoo! "mopping-up phase"!

Greenfielders,

I have been quietly watching all of this with sympathy, tears and care.

I sure do like the sound of a "mopping-up phase".

Phew!

Those of us who also have our hearts there despite not being "ranchers" will want to help you with the Greenfield Restoration.

Keep us in mind and ask when ready. If you need help with purchase and planting of trees, for example, let us know!

In the meantime, I wish you all healing and joy in the blessings that come from facing disaster as community.

You have been an inspiration to many of us and our hearts are with you. We are so proud of you all!

Namaarie,

Maerian
